Trapped Water

Title – Trapped Water

 Photographer name –  Ken Wah

Description of place

This is a shot taken at Marino Beach in South Australia. My initial intent was to shoot sunrise but it was too cloudy. However that does not mean I left empty handed. There are plenty of interesting rock formations to make interesting compositions with, and the clouds and waves crashing on the rocks made it even more exciting. As you can see in this shot there’s a bit of trapped water (hence the name) on the foreground and it was such a huge contrast compared to the waves in the background. The clouds in the sky add a bit of drama too!

 Technical information

Nikon D7000, Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 @ 10mm, f/8, ISO 100, 3 exposures of 1/13, 0.3 sec and 1.3 sec.

Converted RAW files into TIFFs and then tonemapped in Photomatix. After tonemapping it was processed in Photoshop with Topaz Adjust 5, various dodging and burning to bring out details and add more contrast, soft light Gaussian blur to create ‘dreamy’ effect, vibrance adjustments, selective high pass sharpening and warm filter.
